Recommended sightseeing spots
Ride shared bikes that can be easily dropped off at various ports and roadside stations directly connected with public transportation such as fixed-route buses and ferries! Park the shared bike and keep going! Sometimes ferries and fixed-route bus, may not carry a bicycle. This way, you can freely create your own Shimanami itinerary!
Rabbit Island (Okunoshima)
Take a share bike to Sakari Port! It takes only 15 minutes by ferry To Rabbit Island (360 yen for passengers). If you want to return to Omishima, you can go by bicycle and enjoy cycling on Okunoshima. It takes 20 minutes for the 4 kilometers lap. Cute rabbits will surround you and you’ll have the chance to learn about this secret island that used to host poison gas factories during WWII.
Oyamazumi Shrine
Oyamazumi Shrine has a unique nature, with a treasure hall hosting the 70% of the national treasures of Japanese armors and sword. Run around the 3,000-year-old camphor treeand learn more about the famous Murakami pirates, and in summer, take part in the festivals such where also sumo wrestling is held.
This is a famous shrine in Japan where its deity protects travelers and warrior. This is a place where time has stopped. Back to your shared bike you may continue exploring around.
It is popular to buy an amulet at the shrine and attach it to your helmet!
Yumeshima Kaido
The hottest thing right now is Kamijima Town, Ehime Prefecture, commonly known as Yumeshima Kaido, an extension of the Shimanami Kaido. A brand new bridge now connects n Iwagi Island and Ikina Island making it easy top cycle through the four islands!
A route with no traffic lights … these 4 Islands of Setouchi are the cyclists’ dream made reality. Rich in nature, feel warmly welcomed by the local people and enjoy the best, yet easy, cycling route. You can easily access each island from Hakata Port by Geiyo Kisen.
From Hakata Port, reach Yuge Island to Iwagi. Then take a ferry from Okogi port to Sunoe port (Ikuchi Island) and
return to Omishima. You

Yumeshima Kaido Model Course
Tobishima Kaido / Osakikamijima
The Tobishoma Kaido can start from…Omishima! If you want to save time, you may get to Munakata port bby bus… From there, take a share bike, jump on a ferry and challenge the Tobishima Kaido and Osakikamijima! Of course this is only one of the options.
Surrounded
by nature, the Tobishima Kaido offers sceneries of other times. Visit Mitarai on Osaki-Shimojima, a port town filled with beautiful
Japanese houses, where the old town is well preserved. Feel part of a place where time has
stopped long time ago.
Reach the top of Mt. Shinpozan on Osakikamijima, where you can see more than 100 of the Geiyo Islands on the
Hiroshima prefecture side- this
is another unique sport you can reach with an E-Bike.
So, Take a bus to Munakata, pick up a shared bike and then
board on a ferry to Okamura Island. You can also return to Munakata by
cycling around Osaki Shimojima, Toyoshima, Kamikamagarijima and of course, Mitarai!
